

in 1937 and from Converse College in 1941. She attended Charlotte Business School, and before marriage was a secretary at First Presbyterian Church. In1949, she married Hugh Edward “Ed” White, Sr., a true Southern gentleman. After her children left home, she attended Central Piedmont Community College and studied art and piano.
During her active years she served on the boards of the Architects’ Auxiliary, Children’s Theater, Charlotte Junior League, Women of Myers Park Presbyterian Church, and the Hornets’ Nest Girl Scout Council. She was the first Gold Eaglet Girl Scout in Mecklenburg County. She volunteered with CA-Care Cancer Counseling and delivered Friendship Food Trays for 14 years. She was a member of The Bridge Club and Wise and Otherwise Book Club for over forty years.
She joined Myers Park Presbyterian Church in 1930 and was a life-long, loyal member, serving as an Elder and a Stephens Minister. She was awarded a Life Membership in the Presbyterian Women.
In 1995, she and Ed moved to Plantation Estates Retirement Community, Matthews, NC, where she was a member of the Choral Group.
She is survived by her daughter, Lucy White Williams and husband, David, of Henderson, KY and their daughters, Rebecca Glasgow Williams Mueller and husband Chad and Patricia King Williams Crocker and husband Sean. Also by her son, Hugh E. White, Jr. and wife, Jan, of Indian Trail, NC, and their children, Cara Joy White Hunter and husband David; Mary English White Spence and husband Josh; Thomas Edward White and wife Emily; and Walker Hugh White and wife Lindsey. Also by ten great-grandchildren, Catie, Anna, Luke, Eli, Hope, Micah, Leah, Paul, Stuart, James, and two more on the way.
She is also survived by her brother, Richard Glasgow and wife Betty; sister-in-law, Flo Glasgow Vaught; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Hugh E. White, Sr.; brother, Tom M. Glasgow, Jr.; and sisters, Grace Glasgow Dean and Ellen Glasgow Goode.
A service of celebration will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Park Presbyterian Church, led by Reverend Von Clemans.
