He was born on March 17, 1952 in Charleston, South Carolina to the late William and Florie Hamilton. He was the youngest of three children. He departed this life on May 4, 2024. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tonya Euland, and brother, James Richard Hamilton.
Harry graduated from Burke High School in Charleston, South Carolina and later earned his degree in Business Administration from Voorhees University, where he was a proud member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.
Harry was married to his college sweetheart, Shirley, on June 11, 1977. They were joined together for 46 years. From this union, 2 children were born: Kevin Jamaal and Shanaia Monique.
Harry joined Wesley United Methodist Church at an early age. An exceptional athlete, Harry had a passion for basketball and golf. Beyond sports, he had a talent for playing the piano and had a deep love for music, particularly Jazz. Harry dedicated his career to the food service industry, notably at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC.
Harry's warm smile, boundless generosity, captivating stories, and unwavering love for his family will forever be part of his legacy, ensuring he is never forgotten by those who knew him.
He leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of his wife Shirley Nimmons Hamilton; a son Kevin Jamaal; a daughter Shanaia Monique; a sister Vivian (Clarence) Mitchell of Charleston, SC; a uncle Julius Hamilton of Charleston, SC; sisters-in-law Ida (Anthony) Williams, Barbara Nimmons, Betty (Charles) Tillmon, and Linda (David) Mintz; brothers-in-law Robert (Linda) Cohen, Randolph (Sharon) Nimmons, Lenward (Cindy) Nimmons, and Odell (Charlene) Nimmons; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life for Harry will be held Sunday, May 12, 2024 starting at 11:00 AM at McEwen Funeral Home - Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210, followed by a reception at 1:00 PM.
