Hazel Lorraine Lozada, 79, of Matthews, NC, passed away at Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville on Friday December 19, 2015. She was born on August 27, 1936 in Cedar Bluff, Virginia, to the late Grover and Ruby Bales. After 25 years as a Document Controls Specialist with Hughes Network Systems, Hazel retired in 2001. This gave her more time to pursue her love of flower gardening. Her gardens were so lovely that neighbors often stopped to look and ask advice. She was also an avid reader and carried her Nook with her at all times.
Hazel was predeceased in 1974 by her husband of 19 years, James Peery Christian, and in 1976 her son, James Randall Christian.
Hazel is survived by her two loving daughters, Sharon Hutchison and Chiquita Christian; grandsons, Alexander and Christopher Clark; brother, Robert Bales; sister, Patsy Harris; niece, Regina Breeding, and nephew, Justin Bales; her “honorary” children to whom she was a like a second mother, Curtis and May Forsythe, Jim Breeding and Edward Clark; and her grandpups whom she adored, Zoe, Izzy and Lulu.
Hazel will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
