Helen was born on April 10, 1936 in Anson County, NC. She graduated salutatorian from Tech High School in 1954. She married Alton, her high school sweetheart, soon after. As the wife of a Charlotte Firefighter, she devoted her life to raising four children and supporting their many activities, including sporting events and church activities. After raising her children, she became a successful Real Estate Agent for 20 years. She was an active member of Parkwood ARP, New Covenant ARP and Hickory Grove Methodist Church.
When the Carolina Panthers came to North Carolina, they were among the first to purchase PSLs. They attended every home game for the first 20 years of the Panthers’ existence. One of the highlights of her life was attending the Panther’s Fan Cruise for their 60th wedding anniversary.
Helen and Alton built a beautiful beach home in Oak Island, NC where they had many relaxing summers and falls hosting family and friends. This home away from home will become a legacy for future generations.
Throughout her life, Helen took great pride in her family and all of their accomplishments. She celebrated every milestone, and looked forward to each holiday. We will never forget the laugher and love we enjoyed with this wonderful woman who touched so many lives.
We love you, Mama, and you will forever be in our hearts.
