A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Henry joined the service at the age of 17 and served his country during WWII, after which he received an Honorable discharge. He served his community as a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officer for 40 years and security for the Coliseum for 37 years until his retirement. He was known to many as “Sargeant Hank Wilkins.”
Henry enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his children, Paul (Shelly) Wilkins, Sanra (Gary) Hayes and Steve Wilkins; sisters Lavelle and Mar Jo; 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
