Mrs. Podell, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, September 24, 2014, the morning after her 87th birthday. Born September 23, 1927 in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Short and Ruth Charlotte Heath Short. She loved meeting her friends Rita, Dot and Pat for lunch, especially at the former Eckerd lunch counter on Independence Blvd.
The Service of Celebration will be held 2:00 PM Monday, September 29th at Wilson Funeral & Cremation Service.
Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Survivors include two children, Joseph Thomas Podell and Karen Podell Geisler; and six grandchildren, Brett Stahl, Jack Morgan, Phillip Geisler, Melissa Geisler, Tamara Geisler and Drew Geisler. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Podell was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Seymore Podell and a sister, Doris Short Williams.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society.
