Iva P. Dulin

Iva P. Dulin, 97, of Charlotte passed away January 16, 2011 at Aldersgate Retirement Community.

She was born February 27, 1913 the daughter of Milas Culpepper Phifer and Mary Elizabeth Ross Phifer of Marshville, Union County, North Carolina.

She attended Wingate College, Wingate, NC and later moved to Charlotte where she met her future husband. She was married to Walter Rozzelle Dulin, Sr., for 52 years and was a homemaker. She attended Hickory Grove United Methodist Church and was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Women, and the Golden Years Club until her health began to decline. Through her later years her love of Christ and her church never wavered.

Mrs. Dulin is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and three sisters Ellie Collins, Ila Bruton, Joyce Phifer; and one brother Fred Phifer.

She is survived by her daughter, Kaye Gwaltney (John) of Winston-Salem, NC; her son, Walter “Wally” R. Dulin, Jr. (Chellyn) of Charlotte, NC. Four grandchildren, Jennifer Perkins (Kenny) of Concord, NC, John Gwaltney, Jr. of High Point, NC, Russell Dulin (Lori) of Oakboro, NC, Brian Dulin (Diem) of Charlotte, NC; great grandsons, Branson and Caleb Perkins of Concord, NC, Taylor and Bailey Dulin of Charlotte, NC and Holden Dulin of Oakboro, NC; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, Charlotte, NC with Rev. Arnold Corriher and Rev. Dianne Lawhorn officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at t the church. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.

A Special thanks to Dr. Donald Russ, Dr. Allison Herbert, Dr. Victoria Lackey and Dr. Brian Dalrymple for their care over the years. A special thanks to the friends and staff at both Aldersgate Retirement Community and Parker Terrace (2nd floor) where she has lived since 1991.
