Jack William Gurley Sr.

Mr. Gurley, age 68, of Charlotte, died Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House, Huntersville, NC. Born April 2, 1948 in Charlotte, he was a son of the late Jacob William Gurley and Elizabeth McDonald Gurley. Mr. Gurley served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Most recently, he was a welder/assembler for Gough Econ, Inc. Mr. Gurley was a member of Liberty Baptist Church where he had served as usher and member of the Board of Trustees.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM Tuesday, June 28th at Liberty Baptist Church. The service to celebrate the life of Mr. Gurley will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday at the church with Reverend Dr. Gary Berry officiating. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his wife of 47-1/2 years, Jean Barnes Gurley; four children, Karen B. Matthews (Tim), Linda Ann Gurley, Susan Marie Gurley and Jack William Gurley, Jr. (Lily); seven grandchildren; Zachary M. Parker, Destiny M. Segui, Madison D. Parker, Tyler J. Gasquez, Emily B. Kunder, Isabella S. Iaulucci and Katey E. Kunder; three siblings, Vickie E. Davis (Jack), Kenneth R. Gurley and Michael W. Gurley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Gurley was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry E. Gurley.
