James Sterling Brickell

He graduated from East Mecklenburg High School and attended Presbyterian College. Afterwards he worked for Douglas Aircraft, where he worked in the technology department. He then became the Chief Information Officer for Charlotte based Cato Corporation, and finally retired from RB Alexander. During retirement, he enjoyed family, friends and spending time at the lake.

Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Joann Craig Brickell, who he cared for until her death in 1982. He was also preceded in death by his son, James Jr. (Bubba) and his brother, Richard. Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Patsy; daughter, Amanda Brickell Shytle (Mandy); son-in-law, Todd Shytle; granddaughter, Joann Shytle; step-sons, David and Martin Krug; and grandsons, Isaiah and Wick Krug.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 4819 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28209.

Private services will be held at Myers Park United Methodist Church.
