Born January 9, 1928 in Charlotte, NC, he was a son of the late Selburn and Mallie Withers Garrison.
Following high school, he joined the United States Marine Corp. and served during the end of WWII.
His working career began as a lineman at Carolina Telephone and retiring as a switchboard operator.
Mr. Garrison was a member and worshiped at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church where his great-great grandfather was a founding member. He was a Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Teacher and member of the choir. He volunteered at the annual Mallard Creek Bar-B-Que for many years and was on the seventh row every Sunday morning until health problems became an issue.
Mr. Garrison was a quiet man who loved his family and was much loved by them. He leaves emptiness in our hearts but we praise the Lord knowing that we will see him again.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Mae Harris Garrison; two daughters, Betty Hilburn Russell and husband, Robert “Mack” of Statesville, NC and Ellen Hilburn Bayne and husband, Jim of Charlotte, NC; a brother, Bob Garrison of Concord, NC; 7 grandchildren, 18 grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were 3 brothers, Alex, Bill and Mal.
