Mr. Jan Snijders

Jan Snijders, 68, of Fort Mill passed away on Monday, January 24, 2011. Mr. Snijders was born in Zuilen, The Netherlands on September 9, 1942 to Geurtsen and Cornelia Snijders. Jan served in the Royal Dutch Navy aboard a destroyer. Following his military service, he attended the Culinary Institute of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. After his immigration to the United States, Jan became a US citizen on December 9, 1977. He was the Director of Circulation for the Newark Star Ledger until his retirement in 2005.

Jan is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Marianna Snijders, his two sons, Howard and his wife Nicole and Eric, and grandchildren, Briana and Nicholas, all of Columbia, SC. He is also survived by a brother, Anie and sister-in-law, Tinie of Franeker, the Netherlands.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm with a service immediately following at McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 5400 Monroe Rd., Charlotte, NC 28212.
