

Jeffrey “Jeff” Ransom, 51, died suddenly Monday, January 7, 2013 at Presbyterian Hospital. Born in Brooklyn, NY on February 23, 1961, he was one of four children born to the late James Howard Ransom, Jr. and Gertrude Bryant Ransom. A graduate of Sheepshead Bay High School, he led the school to their first Junior Varsity championship in 1976 and was honored with a plaque on their Hall of Fame wall. Mr. Ransom later attended Chaney College in West Virginia and was employed with QualaWash Holdings as a truck driver. He also served as a volunteer fireman and EMT in the Concord area.
Mr. Ransom will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and a warm hearted soul who had a unique way of making one feel special.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00AM, Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at The Derita Chapel of McEwen Funeral Service with Pastor Merton Bye, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral.
Surviving Mr. Ransom is his wife, Farra Renee Gunn-Ransom; four children, Taqiyya, Camille, Brandon, Amber; three grandchildren, Nassir, Naadira, Zaadyn; a brother, Mitchell; two sisters, Barbara, Denise; a sister-in-law, Stephanie; a brother-in-law, Jasper; a mother-in-law, Frances and host of nieces, nephews and loved ones.
