

Mr. Thomas, age 66, of Charlotte passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville surrounded by his family. Though physically handicapped through his entire life, Jenks never met a stranger. He was dearly loved and will be remembered by all who met him.
He was born December 16, 1945 in Charlotte, North Carolina one of seven children of the late Jenks J. Thomas, Sr. and Louise S. Thomas. He is preceded in death by his sister, Joyce T. Thomas McCorkle.
Jenks was a devoted fan of Elvis Pressley, The Beatles and enjoyed entertaining others by singing their songs. However, his favorite song was the Hymn “He Lives”. He was constantly telling all that Jesus was crucified, but that HeLives!
Surviving are his brother, Jerry Lex Thomas and wife Nancy Covington Thomas of Indian Trail; sisters, Peggy Cromer of Winston Salem, NC, Sue T. Hooks of Matthews, NC, Nancy T. Short of Charlotte, NC, and Linda T. Hunter and husband Thomas R. Hunter of Cornelius, NC; 82 nieces and nephews; and numerous other loving family members.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church, 1117 South Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28203. Interment will follow in Evergreen City Cemetery in Charlotte, NC.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
