

Jessie completed her life here on earth and began her journey (she loved to travel and see new places) to everlasting life with God our Father on January 17, 2017. She was born February 26, 1922, in Potosi, Missouri, the second oldest of four children born to Gertrude Pickett Simonton and Dr. Ralph Waldo Simonton, Sr. On August 30, 1942, she became Mrs. Raymond B. Daniel. Jessie and Ray had many happy years together. Both were Carolina Clowns and loved working with children and adults and also volunteering at the local hospitals. She was an elder in St. John Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. She was a very loving and supportive wife, mother and friend, always thinking of others first.
Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, both parents and by her siblings Paul Simonton, Dr. Ralph Simonton, Jr. and Dorothy Simonton Johnson. She is survived by daughter Marilyn Daniel Hartis and husband William Hartis , granddaughter Katharine Hartis Wells and husband Garland Wells, Jr,. great grandsons James Wells and John Wells and by numerous nieces and nephews. Her love and life will live on in her survivors by the examples they saw and learned from her.
She will be buried January 23rd at 12:00 noon in Forest Lawn East Cemetery in Matthews, NC and a memorial service will be held at Bethel Presbyterian Church in McLeansville on January 27th at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel Presbyterian Church, 300 Knox Rd/. McLeansville, NC 27301.
