March 8th 1926 – February 9th 2016
Jessie Rose Stilwell Johnson passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 9th 2016 at the age of 89. Mawmaw Jessie was one of a kind and would do anything to keep her family happy. She married the love of her life, Ralph Johnson and they lived a life of love raising their two children, Cathy and Skipper. They loved to ride mini bikes, go to the beach in their camper, and eat Mawmaws cooking. She helped raise her four grandchildren: Chad Brackbill, Carrie Brackbill Tucker, Adam Johnson, and Erin Johnson. She picked them up from school, ate cafeteria lunches, went to games and dance competitions, and was the day care center for all of them. She taught everyone how to be happy with what you have, and that having it all meant having a family that loved one another.
She is preceded in death by her husband Ralph Johnson and their baby Lynn Johnson. Also by her mother and father: Edna Stilwell and David Stilwell, and her brothers: Landy Stilwell, D.C. Stilwell, and Jim Stilwell. She is survived by her loving daughter Cathy Brackbill and by her caring son Skipper Johnson, both of whom put their lives on hold to take care of her until the end of her long and happy life. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Chad Brackbill, Carrie Brackbill Tucker and her husband Chris Tucker, Adam Johnson and his wife Shea Erin Johnson; and by her first great grandson, Dylan Tucker, born four days before her passing. She is also survived by son-in-law Paul Brackbill and daughter-in-law Sharyn Johnson, whom she loved just like her own children. She is survived by her sisters: Evelyn Beatty, Byrle Hendrix, Libby Hendrix, Dot Stilwell and Ruby Corr.
Like everyone who ever met her, we will miss her laugh, her smile, and her pointing finger. She is now resting in her forever home in Heaven.
Services will be held at 12:30pm, Saturday, February 13, 2016 in the Paul Helton Chapel at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior at 11:30am. Interment will follow the service at Castanea Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 14815 Lucia- Riverbend Hwy in Stanley, NC.
