Jessie Buchanan Phillips, 90, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family December 10, 2020. Born March 15, 1930 in Charlotte; she was the daughter of Alexander Jesse and Ethel (George) Buchanan. She married Harvey Franklin Phillips on July 19, 1953 in Charlotte.
She was a graduate of Paw Creek High school, where she was an avid basketball player. Jessie retired from Multi Graphics after numerous years of employment.
Jessie was a member and gracious supporter of Trinity Nazarene Church, formerly known as Thomasboro Church of the Nazarene. At Trinity Nazarene Church, Jessie served as the Sunday School Superintendent and in the church kitchen for most of the major events. Because her life in Christ was so important, Jessie encouraged many to experience his love.
A loving wife and mother, Jessie’s life consisted of her husband, children and grandchildren. She attended every dance recital, sporting event and programs that involved her family. She also had the joy and love for cooking, especially her famous chocolate cake, which everyone loved.
Survivors include her children, Wanda (Will) Williams, Curtis (Pam) Phillips, Cliff (Karen) Phillips and Gina (Tommy) Gavozzi; grandchildren, Jonathan Mauch, Jessica (Seth) Wilfong, Dane Phillips, Lynde Phillips, Tanda Phillips, Krista (Jordan) Black, Candace (Tripp) Cheek, Faith Phillips, Reagan Phillips, Nick Gavozzi and TeddiLyn (Troy) Hunter; great-grandchildren, Berkley Wilfong, Ellington Wilfong, Parker Wilfong, Levi Mauch, Isabella Phillips, McCoy Black, Alexandra Black, Ava Black and Jaxton Cheek.
She was preceded in death by his parents; husband; brothers, Calvin, George, James, Luke, and Will Buchanan; sisters, Nellie Baucom and Margaret Montgomery.

A Celebration of Jessie’s life will be held 2 p.m. December 15, 2020 at Chin Baptist Church (formerly Trinity Nazarene Church), 6031 Tuckaseegee Rd., Charlotte. Burial in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 7845 Little Ave, Charlotte, NC 28226.
