Jimmy Johnson Furr

A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Thursday, July 21st at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home with a service to celebrate his life to begin at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Dr. Charles Foushee officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.

The eighth child of Lemuel and Isabelle Furr lost his battle with failing health over the last ten years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Betty Pressley Furr; a son by 20 years, Anthony Allan Furr; and seven siblings.

He is survived by four children, Sandra Saxon of Charlotte, Randy Crump and wife, Teri of Fort Mill, SC; Jennifer Dubell and husband, Robert of Mount Holly; and Stanley Furr of Charlotte. Mr. Furr also left behind one dear sister, Nancy Wilson and husband, David of Charlotte; and a half brother, Archie Hargett of Charlotte; as well as nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He will be remembered for his love of the water, music, baseball, gardening, and working with his hands. He was President of Jim Furr Realty for 40 years and performed all maintenance in his property management personally. He was always busy either building, gardening, or some other project while listening to music.
