

Joanne Seay, age 66, of Charlotte NC passed away on January 30, 2018 at McWhorter Hospice in Monroe, NC after a long illness. Born at Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina on April 22, 1951, Joanne was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Mary C. Buckner.
A graduate of Columbia High School, Joanne worked many years for the US Postal Service and then in banking and property management until her retirement.
Joanne is survived by her beloved husband and soul mate, Frank Seay, her son Chip McCaw, step-daughter Autumn Seay Phillips (Neil) and grandchildren; Zachary McCaw, Rylee Phillips, Chase Phillips and a great-grandson Zane Earley.
Joanne is also survived by her brother; John Buckner (Gail) of Sumter, sister Pat Mullins (Barry) of Chapin, SC, her father-in-law Frank Seay Sr. and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter; Natalie Hope McCaw, a brother; Dan Buckner and a sister; Lilly Buckner Shealy, as well as her beloved mother-in-law also named Joanne Seay.
Joanne had a real gift for writing and often shared her thoughts and feelings on social media. She had such a strong faith and never hesitated to share her love for the Lord at every opportunity. She was creative and artistic and an amazing cook. Before she became too ill she often took home cooked meals to family and friends. She had a heart of gold and was always generous and kind. Joanne was loved by everyone who met her and leaves behind so many friends to mourn her passing. She will be greatly missed and we are all better people for having known and loved her.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at McEwen Funeral Service, Pineville Chapel. A visitation will be held an hour prior.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to, McWhorter Hospice House, Monroe NC.
