Kindness was common for Joe, and he practiced it often. He enjoyed serving the needs of those around us, whether family, co-workers, or friends. He went to his heavenly home on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Atrium Pineville Hospital after a long battle with Parkinson’s Syndrome plus other difficult diseases. He had been living in Carmel Hills for the last two- and one-half years when he needed extra care. Gratitude surrounds those days for care and encouragement.
Born January 21, 1945, in Newton, NC, he was the son of the late Ralph White and Sarah Poovey White. He graduated from Newton Conover High School and furthered his education at several colleges. His college career was interrupted when drafted into the Army where he served two years, one of those in the Vietnam War. After returning from the war, he continued his college work to earn his degree in Social Work at Appalachian State University. He began his 30-year career in the FBI in Charlotte, NC as a clerk supporting the agents. Going to work was a pleasure for him but he always enjoyed sports also!
The joy of Joe’s life was his wife, Dianne. They were married April 11, 1987, and were grateful that God had saved them for each other. Their love was deep, and they enjoyed being together. Even while Joe was at Carmel Hills, they spent every day together if possible.
Joe is survived by his wife, Dianne, his mother-in-law, Drucilla Taylor, sister-in-law, Linda White. Other special relatives are his nieces Tracey White Asbill (Brian) and Jill White Pate (Mister) who also have children.
In addition to his parents, brother, Ralph, preceded Joe in death.
A service to celebrate Joe’s life will be held at 1:30 PM, Friday, May 16, 2025, at South Charlotte Baptist Church, 12416 Lancaster Highway, Pineville, NC 28134. The family will receive friends at 1:00 prior to the service. Interment with Military honors will be in Crown Memorial Park.
