

John devoted his entire professional life to television and radio production. A graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill in Radio, Television and Motion Pictures, he worked at WRAL-TV, WKIX, WBT and WBTV. He was a beloved Senior Producer and Director at WBTV for twenty-four years. While there, John directed the Betty Feezor Show, Top of the Day, Arthur Smith Show, as well as the Thanksgiving Day parade. John truly had a passion for directing. When he left WBTV John joined Loonis McGlohon producing and directing the Unity Singers and traveled the world. John later joined the Methodist Conference where he served for twenty years doing productions for the conference and with Glen Draper and the Lake Junaluska singers.
John was also known for the time he donated as the Production Advisor for the Charlotte Youth singing group, Sounds of America (1967-1975), as well as the many years serving as the Entertainment Producer for Festival in the Park (1964-2004).
In his later years, John worked as a funeral assistant with the area McEwen Funeral Homes. He was an integral part of the team and well loved by his work family.
For those who knew him, John was a man of many stories from his time in the Army, productions he worked, and the many travels he took all over the world. He never lacked a tale to tell when others where around.
John was predeceased by his first wife Lee Burchett and his son, Chris Burchett. He is survived by his wife Beverley Burchett; son, Dean Burchett, grandson Andy; son, Robert Jenkins & wife Claire; daughter, Michelle & husband Jeremy Rabon; grandchildren, Addison, Ethan and Owen.
