

Rev. John W. (Bill) Campbell (87) was born the late Alberta Hicks and John W. Campbell Sr. in Charlotte, NC where he was active in school and church during his formative years. He was an active member of Caldwell Memorial Presbyterian Church and it was there he was called to become a Minister of the Gospel.
After serving in the U.S. Navy with the National Security Agency, he graduated from Davidson College in North Carolina. He then attended Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, VA after which he was called to be the interdenominational Chaplin at Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville, VA where he ministered to the needs of many thousands of students.
Following his years in the ministry, he entered business in Charlottesville, VA. He joined the computer firm of Computec and later formed Charlottesville's first direct mail company, Mailing Services of Virginia.
Mr. Campbell is predeceased by two sisters, Frances Pitts and Elizabeth Hasting both of Charlotte, NC, and three brothers, Everett Campbell of Bumpass, VA, Robert Campbell of Harrisonburg, VA, and James R. Campbell of Morrisville, NC. Uncle Bill was survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many cousins in addition to his numerous friends. All know he now rests in the comfort of the Lord.
