John Stephen McCall

J.S. McCall was born on November 7, 1947 to parents William Whiteford McCall Sr. and Willie King McCall of Darlington S.C. After Steve graduated from Saint John's high school in 1966, he went on to study business/ journalism at University of South Carolina.

After college he enlisted in the National Guard in Darlington and went to work for WBTV in Florence SC as a field reporter. In 1969 Steve went to work for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. He found a love for the job and would end up staying with Goodyear for 43 years rising through the ranks the entire time. Over time Steve and his brother William Whiteford McCall Jr. found a love for NASCAR and worked Public Relations for various race tracks. In 1997 Steve and William won the NMPA Joe Little John award.

Steve married his wife Charlotte Ann Smith McCall in 1970. They would go on to have 2 children, Brandi Ann McCall Goodloe of Fayetteville, NC and John Ryan McCall of Charlotte, NC. Steve was a proud grandfather of 5 grandchildren Gannon Joseph Formichelli Goodloe, McKenna Ann Goodloe, Madeline Ryan McCall, Charlotte Alexa McCall and Evie Grace McCall. Steve was a loving husband and father who taught and supported his kids during life’s accomplishments and difficulties in their lives.

He is survived by Ann Smith McCall, Brandi McCall Goodloe,Ryan McCall, sister Betty Purvis Bailey and brother William Whiteford McCall Jr. Services will be held on December 3 at Pisgah United Methodist Church in Florence, South Carolina at 1:00 pm.
