John Clay McCandlish

Born June 20, 1964, he was the son of the late James E. McCandlish and Carolyn Denise McCandlish.

John graduated from Appalachian State University and commissioned into the North Carolina Army National Guard. John also served for a time on the Winston Salem Police Department. John most recently resided in Charlotte, where he was a painter and cared for his mother until her death in June 2020.

John is survived by his daughters, Leanne Caudill (John) and her sister; two granddaughters; and an uncle, David Brown (Betty).

The family will receive friends at the home at a later date. Forest Lawn West Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Special Olympics.
