Kayleen Veronica Deminski, age 59, passed away on January 16, 2018, surrounded by her loving husband and four sons. She grew up in Muskegon, MI, where she raised four boys and had her own house-cleaning business. She moved to the Charlotte area in 2001. She got her GED in her mid-twenties and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Muskegon. Kayleen was a free-spirit, a devoted mother, and a hard-worker. She loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed camping and spending time in nature, including tending her backyard vegetable garden. She always had a green thumb and could grow just about anything.
Kayleen will be remembered for her big heart, her compassion for stray animals (which she was always taking in), and her sympathy for anyone who seemed bruised by the troubles of life. She was a strong-willed woman who used her temperament to stick up for what she thought was right and would never overlook an injustice to someone she cared about.
Kayleen is preceded in death by her father, Gordon Sorensen, her brother Roger and her sister Pamela. She is survived by her husband, Kerry Deminski, her four beloved sons, Keith and Jason Sorensen, Chad Fox and Brandon Holt. She is also survived by her mother, Joyce Sorensen, her brothers Randy and Ryan Sorensen, and her dear grandchildren, Alyssa and Aiden Fox, Phoebe Sorensen and Riley Holt, in addition to her two step-grandchildren, Phoebe and Kimara Carr.
A memorial service to honor Kayleen’s life will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at 2:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Home 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. Online condolences can be made at www.McEwenFS.com.
