

He proudly served his country flying 87 missions as a radio operator in the Korean conflict. During his 14-year career with the United States Air Force, he also served in the prestigious 12th Strategic Aerospace Division.
After his military career, he settled in Charlotte, NC eventually becoming a successful business owner. For over 30 years Ken owned and operated Dandy Cleaners and Laundry and later purchased American Drycleaners, where he forged long lasting friendships with his employees and customers. He played an active role in the community of West Charlotte as a member of the Freedom Drive Development Association, providing employment and counsel to all levels of society. He is also a 32 degree Mason at West Gate Lodge 738.
Ken had his pilot’s license and enjoyed taking trips around the southeast. He loved the beach and taking his extended family on their annual vacation to Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Ken was an avid reader, always curious to learn more about the world around him. Above all else, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
Ken is survived by his wife of 40-years Esthela Hill, sons Benjamin Hill (Pamela), Larry Hill (Sabrina), Kenneth Hill Jr. (Kendra) and daughters Deborah Lee Hill and Brandy Evans (Sidney). He also leaves grandchildren Danelle Hill, Jessica Wayne (Daniel), Jennifer Myers (Raleigh), Christi Hill, Natalie Wensil (Michael), Samantha Evans, Seth Evans and Alexander Hill as well as eight great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 29th at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home from 6pm to 8pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 30th in the Paul L. Helton Chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral Home at 11am. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
