Kionna Deshannon Beatty

Born on February 19, 1992, in North Carolina, Kionna was a beacon of love and warmth throughout her life. She is survived by her devoted husband, Angel Guzman, and her beloved stepson, Miguel Angel Cedillo Relles.

Kionna’s spirit was shaped by her close-knit family. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mariah Beatty, and her beloved gift mother, Tammy Lynn Gemes (deceased). She is also survived by her father, Marcus Antonio Beatty-Massey and her adoptive mother, Karen E. Harris, who raised her with unconditional love alongside her brothers, Kyle Massey and Christopher Tholmer. Kionna was cherished by a host of grandparents –Gary and Judy Gemes, Anthony and Helen Porter, Phyllis Chandler and Robert Massey– as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who adored her.

Despite her battle with chronic illnesses, Kionna had an extraordinary ability to illuminate any space with her radiant smile and infectious sense of humor. She created a lasting impression on everyone she encountered, turning challenges into opportunities for joy. Kionna had an adventurous spirit and loved to explore new places, with Disneyland in Florida being her favorite destination. She had a passion for shopping, particularly for designer purses, and had a special fondness for everything Hello Kitty.

Her favorite color was blue, and every holiday gathering was made brighter with her love for Honey Baked ham and Yam casserole. When she was younger she loved pancakes so much, her nickname was “pancake piggy.” Kionna was not just a daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, wife, and stepson’s mother, she was a beloved friend who touched the heart of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Kionna will be deeply missed and forever remembered in our hearts. May her light continue to shine brightly in our memories.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 7:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Home - Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210.
