Larry Roberts

Born June 23, 1943 in Newton, NC, Mr. Roberts was a son of the late Lawrence McBride Roberts, Sr. and Avie Mae Dotson Roberts. He graduated from West Mecklenburg High School in 1961 and later attended Kings College as well as receiving an associates degree from CPCC. From 1962 to 1964, Mr. Roberts served in the U.S. Army.

He was presently employed as a greeter at the Eastway Drive WalMart and had spent his career as a sheet metal worker. Mr. Roberts had been a member of Grace Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and sang in the choir. He was currently a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church.

Mr. Roberts’ family includes his daughter, Laura-Lee Helms, her husband, Chris, and their son Chase; and his son, Neil Roberts, all of Charlotte; two sisters, Joyce Taylor and Sharon Upton, both of Concord; and his fiancée, Kathy Estes Hilton of Waxhaw.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneie Roberts.

A service to celebrate Mr. Roberts’ life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 21st in the chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. His family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
