LaTonya Richie, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on March 2, 2024, at the age of 50. LaTonya was born on April 30, 1973, in South Bend, Indiana, and later moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she was raised. She attended Sierra High School and successfully obtained her diploma.
Despite facing disabilities, LaTonya embraced life with a resilient spirit and a positive outlook.
Her love for sports was evident throughout her life. LaTonya was a dedicated fan of the Denver Broncos, passionately cheering for her team with unwavering loyalty. Her dedication to the team created playful banter and lasting memories for those fortunate enough to share in the excitement with her.
Music was another one of LaTonya's great loves, 90’s R&B along with Michael Jackson held a special place in her heart. Her appreciation for music became a source of connection and joy for those fortunate enough to share in her musical experiences.
LaTonya's journey was marked by strength and determination, leading her to an early retirement due to her disabilities. Despite the challenges she faced, LaTonya remained a source of inspiration to those who knew her. Her kindness, comedic nature, and love for life will be cherished by family and friends. She will be remembered not only for her love of sports and music but also for the unwavering love and support she gave to her family and friends.
She leaves behind a legacy of resilience and love. LaTonya Richie will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace, and may her memory live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
LaTonya was preceded in death by her loving Stepfather Larry A. Smith.
She is survived by her mother Betty J. Johnson-Smith, her brother Michael L. Wright, her sister Laneika R. Ursery and her beloved nieces and nephews; Giana W. Wright, Malia S. Jones, Michael L. Wright III, Brooklyn A. Wright and Kobe M. Wright
A celebration of life for LaTonya will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 2:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service Inc., 6300 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28262.
