She graduated from Central High School in 1946 while working at Woolworth’s downtown. After graduation, she was proud of her work of 4-1/2 years at American Trust in the transit and document control section. By request of her husband, she continued as a homemaker raising her three children in the faith.
She was a fierce defender of the Christian faith with the values taught by our Lord Jesus Christ. She was a member of Midwood Baptist, in Charlotte, as a girl, Sunrise Blvd. Baptist, Fort Pierce, Florida, then, since 1964, Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church in Charlotte. All were churches of the Southern Baptist Convention.
She was also a proud American and kept up to date and supported the values to keep a strong and sound America.
Join the family and honor Ruth with the joy of a blessed life she just lived and enjoyed with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, James W. Surratt; three children: Michael (Betty Ann), Susan (Robert Nichols), Daniel Surratt; and her sister June Blackwell, 88.
