Lila C. McClelland

Mrs. Lila C. McClelland, 94, died June 6th, 2015 at CMC Pineville. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John R. McClelland, with whom she shared a special and loving bond for 56 years. She was born in Charlotte and was the daughter of Ellen and Loy Cloninger. Following graduation from Berryhill High School she attended Business College. She worked for multiple companies and held many offices in her Business and Professional Women Association but her passion was the movie industry. She worked for Warner Brothers and was the Executive Secretary for the Theatre Owners of NC and SC for many years, working with the film distributors and planning state and regional conventions. She was a lifelong active member of Flint Hill Baptist Church and served in many positons throughout her lifetime. Lila and John loved to travel, and the family has wonderful memories of the times they shared. Lila was a vibrant, loving, and vivacious person who maintained a strong spirit and original sense of humor.

She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia McClelland of Virginia Beach, Marsha McDaniel of Fort Mill, nieces and nephews Tricia and Guy Gosnell, Garrett, Rachel, Mackenzie and Madison Gosnell (to whom she was Nana), David Abernethy, Jim and Jean McClelland, John and Christina McClelland, Kathryn McClelland, Marilyn McClelland, and Deb Reilly.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until noon Wednesday, June 10th at Flint Hill Baptist Church, with a service to follow at noon and burial immediately following at the church cemetery.
