Lila Grace Richardson

Lila Grace Richardson, aged 17, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 28th, 2025. She was an inspiration to her parents, siblings, extended family, and all who knew her and will be deeply missed.

Lila was born on October 26, 2007, and lived her entire life in Charlotte, NC. Lila showed her resilience from early on as she battled Mitochondrial Disease. While most people knew Lila was non-verbal and tube-fed as she carried her backpack of formula wherever she went, this disease affected Lila in so many ways- including epilepsy, severe neurological impairment, gut failure, and dysautonomia.

Despite being faced with these challenges, Lila was one of the most joyful souls you would ever meet. Her smile and belly laughs were infectious to all she encountered. She would always reach out to hold a hand and if you were near her, you became a perfect candidate to rub her aching feet.

Lila brought community together. Even though she was without words, all who encountered Lila would want to stop by and check in, say hello, and borrow a smile as she was doing her favorite activities. Whether she was swinging in the neighbor’s front yard, swimming, reading her favorite books, watching her favorite shows, or roaming the aisles of her favorite stores, Lila lifted the spirits of all she encountered. Lila also loved to be on the move. She enjoyed going on rides of all kinds including scooter, car, stroller, bike, or golf cart rides, where Lila would be giggling the entire time.

Lila truly reflected the love of Christ, exuding joy despite her circumstances.

Lila is survived by her parents Dan and Eaddy and her siblings Ben and Hadley.

A celebration of Lila's life is scheduled for 4pm on Friday, September 5, 2025 at Forest Hill Church located at 7224 Park Road in Charlotte. Lila will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery located at 1462 State Road 2519 in Belmont on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 11am.

Lila’s memory and spirit will be cherished by all who knew her.
