Lillian Giarratana

Lillian Giarratana, 87, of Charlotte passed away peacefully on July 11, 2014. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 14, 1926 to the late Salvatore and Carmela Cardinale. Lillian moved to Charlotte in 2006 to be close to her family in the Carolinas. A member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, Lillian enjoyed singing and was also active in the social activities at her residence, Brookdale Place of South Charlotte.

Lillian is predeceased by an infant daughter, Lorraine; infant grandson, James Robert; her siblings, Ross, Harry, Philip, Joseph and Ann and nephew, John Philip.

She is survived by her children; Diane Berryhill of TX, Chuck (Kelly) Giarratana of NC, Gerard (Gina) Giarratana of PA, Greg Giarratana of NH, Judith (Jim) Kind of CO and Tom Giarratana of SC; 16 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren and her grand-dogs.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday Jul 16 at St. Matthew Catholic Church 8015 Ballantyne Commons Pkwy, Charlotte, NC.

in the Daily Mass Chapel. Burial will take place on Friday July 18 at 1:00 pm at St. Gertrude's Roman Catholic Cemetery 53 Inman Avenue Colonia , NJ.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 am on Saturday July 19 at St. John the Baptist Church 4050 Durham Rd, Ottsville, PA

In lieu of flowers, Lillian requested to “plant a tree in my name at your residence, if possible” or make a donation to the Animal Shelter of one’s choice.
