Lillian Smith Greeson

Mrs. Greeson, 78, of Charlotte, NC, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 13, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital.

She was born January 8, 1934 in Newark, New Jersey a daughter of the late Ernest W. Smith and Cecelia Sauer Smith. She had lived in Fayetteville, NC for 40 years where she met her late husband, Master Sergeant (RET) James Leroy Greeson, Sr. while working in retail. Mrs. Greeson later worked as a manager with the Officers Club. Besides her professional life, she was a dedicated wife, mother and active in her husband’s responsibilities at Fort Bragg. Mrs. Greeson was very proud of the United States military – in addition to her husband’s career, her daughter, Jan, currently serves as LTC. with the Air National Guard, her son, Jim, is retired from the United States Navy and her son-in-law, Bruce serves as North Carolina State Command Chief of the Air National Guard and serves in the Charlotte Fire Department. Mrs. Greeson had lived in Charlotte for the past thirty years.

A Gathering to celebrate the life of Mrs. Greeson will be held from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM, Saturday, March 17, 2012 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Fort Bragg Main Post Cemetery beside her husband.

Mrs. Greeson is survived by her son, James Leroy Greeson, Jr.; and her daughter, Jan Greeson Pickett and her husband, Bruce Gerald Pickett all of Charlotte, NC; a niece, Doris Camper of Fayetteville, NC and a sister, Anna Smith of Charlotte, NC
