Linda Lynne passed away peacefully after battling cancer on August 26, 2024 at home. Her family was blessed to have her close during the last few months as she courageously fought gallbladder cancer.
She was born in Manhattan, NY in 1939 to William and Sallie. She spent her formative years in Hartford, CT and graduated from Hartford High School.
Linda loved fiercely, enjoyed a good belly laugh, was kind, generous, and never hesitated to give her time and attention to those that needed it - her family often heard from others that they appreciated her ability to listen and her encouragement. She believed family was the center of life’s meaning. She is survived by her daughter, Samantha, her son-in-law Mike, her grandson, Jon and her four-legged boy, Payton.
She was a strong, independent, free spirit, who embraced the changes of the 1960s and along with her husband, James, supported many protests and rallies. Linda loved adventure and was fearless. She faced many obstacles in life and courageously met each challenge with luck and pluck that somehow worked. Linda was unpologetic about her truth - she was authentic and fierce in life.
In her life, she explored many vocations - like acting in NY, dinner theater across the country, real estate in California and teacher, specializing in English, which allowed her to teach in Prague, Czech Republic before returning back to US to “retire” and tutor students. She loved meeting new people and exploring new destinations; she loved to travel and was open to new experiences.
Linda didn’t believe in doing things the traditional way. As such, her wishes were not for a traditional celebration of life but to ask those to take a minute to remember her when they travel to a new place or engage in a new experience that brings joy (such as something simple like seeing a beautiful landscape). Her family will have a mass celebrated in her name as faith played an important part of her life and does in theirs. Linda will be missed and more importantly she will be remembered.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local hospice or agency supporting single moms.
