

Lydia Land Boyle, a longtime Charlotte, NC resident, passed away in the hospital on January 16, 2025 after a short illness.
She was born September 8, 1942 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She grew up there, attended Fortier High School, and graduated from Fortier in 1960. She later attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and graduated with a B.A. in 1965.
Lydia was preceded in death by her devoted husband Thomas Wayne Boyle in 2006, and also her mother Beatrice Land, father Clayton Land, and brother Norman Dees.
After college, Lydia worked in merchandising in New Orleans for a while, then moved to Houston and worked for Marsh McLennan Insurance. Lydia loved music and loved visiting art museums with her friends. After marrying, she and her husband Tom eventually moved to Charlotte, where they were both involved in their church. Lydia was an accomplished seamstress and also liked cross-stitch, needlepoint, knitting, and embroidery. Other hobbies included photography, reading, and working crossword puzzles.
Lydia loved the Lord and served the Lord for many years. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her and loved her.
There will be a Graveside service for Lydia on October 8th at 1 PM at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Rd. Charlotte, NC 28212 in the Cremation Garden in front of the Mausoleum.
(Note: The Mausoleum is in the center of the cemetery.
The Garden is in front of the Mausoleum. Look for
the green tent. There's parking in front of the Mausoleum.
In case of inclement weather, the service will be held inside the Mausoleum.)
