Margaret Pritchett Howell passed into the Lord's hands on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. Born in Greensboro, NC, on December 8, 1931, she graduated from the Women's College of the University of North Carolina (later UNC-Greensboro) and taught music at Grimsley High School in Greensboro. She also performed as an oboist with the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra for many years.
Margaret was a long-time member of Providence United Methodist Church in Charlotte, participating in many small groups and the altar guild. She sang with the Providence UMC Chancel Choir, and toured in Europe with the choir.
Margaret was wedded in 1956 to Earl C. Howell, Jr., who preceded her in death in 1991. Mrs. Howell is survived by her son Joseph W. Howell, of Imperial, PA, son David W. Howell, of Charlotte, and daughter Anne P. Howell of Charlotte. She also was blessed with two grandchildren, Jennifer Dawn and Eric James Howell, and two great-grandchildren, Bryson James and Ava Grace Howell.
Visitation will be at McEwen Funeral Service - Pineville on Sunday, January 3, from 3-4 PM. A graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetary in Greensboro, NC, on Monday, January 4, at 11 AM. The Rev. Dr. William Jeffries will preside.
