Margaret Thomas Nash

Margaret Elizabeth Thomas “Nanny“ Nash transitioned home to be with her Lord on July 26th, 2022. Born June 23rd, 1930 in Union County, NC Nanny was raised to love the Lord and work hard for her family. She married young to Alexander Vonnell “Von” Nash and eventually moved to Charlotte where they raised their family. Cathy Cox and Ricky (Vickie) Nash stay close by, keeping Nanny company with her grandchildren Justin (Scarlett) Nash, Shannon (James) Cleaton, and Jaclyn Nash.

Nanny worked for 45 years at Lance Packing Company packing her beloved Toastchee Crackers. She retired to help out with her grandchildren, but that didn’t last long. Not one to sit idle, she began a second career at Bud’s Plants. She became everyone’s Nanny as she assisted with all things flower related. She was a faithful member of Chapman Memorial Baptist Church where she was a choir member and Sunday School teacher.

Nanny became a volunteer at Mountain Island Lake Academy for 5 years where she assisted in the cafeteria and became a beloved Nanny to all the children. Her great grandchildren Jacob Nash, Stella Cleaton, and Andrew Nash shared their Nanny with scores of other children, but they remained her pride and joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Fannie Thomas, husband, and siblings, who were waiting to welcome her into Heaven. In lieu of flowers, please gift a donation to Novant Hospice and Palliative Care, P.O. Box 33549, Charlotte, NC 28233.
