Margaret (Dilling) Tench

Margaret Dilling Tench, 95 went to be with her Lord Jesus on April 3rd, 2018. Margaret was born on July 27th, 1922 in Lowell, NC to Roy and Lottie Dilling. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bill Dilling and her devoted husband Ross C. Tench.

Margaret was kind and soft-spoken with a pleasant sense of humor. Her wonderful smile is remembered by everyone that knew her. She was the mother of 7 children, 4 boys and 3 girls. All of her children consider her the best possible mother in the whole world as well as the best cook in the whole world. Her claim to fame was her delicious pound cake that she shared with anyone and everyone. She was a member of Sunset Road Baptist Church and she retired from Howard Counts Grocery Store in Thomasboro.

Margaret is survived by her sister Shirley Putnam of Lexington, SC and her sister-in-law Gerry Dilling of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by her children Linda T. Byrd (Roger), Barbara T. Helderman (Wayne, Sr), Larry C. Tench (Sandy), Carole T. Helms (Don), Donald E. Tench (Shirley), James M. Tench (Anne) and Roger D. Tench (Renee'). In addition, Margaret is survived by 19 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 17 great, great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Sunset Road Baptist Church - 2317 Sunset Road, Charlotte, NC on Saturday, April 7th, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm.

Funeral services will be on Sunday, April 8th, 2018 at 2 pm in the Paul Helton Chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral Home at 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC. Reverend Steve Bass of Sunset Road Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons: Roy (Chuck) Tench, Andy Tench, Wayne Helderman, Jr., Jim Tench, Jr., David Ross Tench and Marcus Tench.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Helderman, Sr., Roger Byrd and Don Helms.

The family will be at Margaret Tench's home.
