Margie O. Owens Greene

Margie O. Greene, 80, died Sunday, April 29, 2012 at The Brian Center in Gastonia. Born in Columbus, OH on May 29, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Harry B. Owens and Irene Shuttleworth Owens. Mrs. Greene was a member of Mulberry Baptist Church for over 30 years and will be remembered for her faith and devotion to family. She had a contagious smile and beautiful blue eyes that lit up around her grandchildren. She enjoyed walking with her husband in their neighborhood as well as traveling to Hawaii, Canada and across the USA. Her hobbies included painting nature scenes in watercolors.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive with Pastor Timothy S. Nichols officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, April 30th at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home, 4601 Freedom Drive.

Mrs. Greene is survived by her husband for over 60 years, Robert M. Greene; a daughter, Judy G. Potts and husband Daniel, of Stanley, NC; two sons, Michael R. Greene, of Charlotte, Joseph D. Greene and wife Hollie, of Buford, GA; a brother, Joseph Owens and wife Arlene, of Birmingham, AL; eight grandchildren, Joe Greene, Jana Chilton, Shannon Greene, Miranda Buchanon, Christy Ballard, Jeff Greene, Eric Greene and Cameron Potts; and eight great-grandchildren.
