Mrs. Landis, age 68, of Charlotte, passed away May 30, 2012 at her home in the warm embrace of her family. She was born July 7, 1943 in Rock Hill, SC and grew up in Winnsboro, SC. She was a daughter of the late John Starnes and Rebecca Smith. Marie is survived by her husband Henry M. Landis; her daughters Rebecca Landis and her husband Patrick Hayes, and Virginia Landis Penland and her husband Travis Penland; grandsons Evan and Henry Penland and Aidan and Emerson Hayes; her sister Nancy Lewis Frazier; and a brother John Starnes together with many nieces and nephews. Marie loved to make quilts and delighted in giving them to friends and family who cherished them. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at 10:00 AM, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2830 Dorchester Place, Charlotte, NC 28209 with The Reverend A.J. Thomas, Senior Minister, officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
