Rusty served in the U.S. Army where he completed two tours in Vietnam, earning two Bronze Service Stars, Combat Infantryman Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Sharpshooter (Rifle) and National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment.
Rusty was injured in an electrical accident that took his arms and legs, leaving him a quadruple amputee in 1979. Still, through all of this he continued to be a fighter with a great attitude towards life, and was loved and adored by all who knew him.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather to his family. He always had the best one-liners that were sure to bring smiles to everyone in the room. He was a devoted Christian who is now with his Heavenly Father with no pain, and once again will have his arms and his legs! We love you so much and you will be missed every day. Your loving family.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jill Woods; son, Marion R. Woods III “Tripp” and wife Angela; daughter, Heather Woods; granddaughter, Alanna Yakovenko, and husband Maksym; grandson, Ashton Woods; grandson, Corbyn Bridges; grandson, Pierce Bridges; great-grandson, Elias Yakovenko; sister, Carol Woods; four nieces; and four nephews.
