Mariyana Stamey

Mrs. Stamey, age 73, of Charlotte passed away Monday at her residence. She was born October 18, 1938 in Barberton, OH, daughter of the late Marcella and Alan Gardner and Eli and Doris Sekicki. Mrs. Stamey was the former Deputy Auditor and Clerk with the City of Sarasota, FL; a former Conference Director and member of ARMA; a former President and manager of Miss Sarasota Softball; the Communications Director at the Georgia Dome for the 1996 Summer Olympics; and a member of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. Wednesday January 4, 2012 at McEwen Funeral Service Charlotte Chapel 5716 Monroe Rd, Charlotte, NC 28212. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday in the funeral home chapel conducted by Reverend James Martin. Survivors are her husband of 50 years Jay W. Stamey; daughter Sharon Storck and husband Bill of Charlotte; granddaughter, Caitlin Storck; grandson, Spencer Storck; sister, Veda Martin and husband Rick, of Sarasota, FL; brother, Tom Gardner and wife Mary Jane of Barberton OH; Step-daughter Elizabeth Taft; several step-grandchildren, nephew Glen McCravy, who was like a son, of Johnston, IA; and numerous other nieces and nephews that had a special place in her heart.
