I met Pat in 73' at Guilford. The things I remember, a big fan of Pooh, a Toyota Corolla (blue I think),her dislike of eggs when the whites wasn't cooked. I remember a party in my suite and one of the guys said he thought Pat was a Fox (70's). Unfortunately Pat was in ear shout and she came over and proceeded to explain to him that she was not. Fox,Chick,ECT.that was funny because of this fellow's personality. All he could do was stand there while this under classwoman lectured him on what she thought was appropriate. It brings a smile to my face as I write this. But most of all I remember our correspondence while I was at sea (I joined the Navy when I left college). It was always a better day when I received mail, it means a lot to service men and women. It meant a great deal to me to hear from her. Something I'll always be grateful for, I consider her friendship a treasured memory. My sympathy for your loss.

Dear Lee, I am very sad to learn that Pat passed away in January. We were great friends at Guilford, she visited me in California in the early 80's and we  reconnected through Facebook. I stopped Facebook in January, so unfortunately I missed hearing about her passing. We had exchanged emails, but I knew that was getting harder for her. I have Many wonderful memories of laughter with her as we shared imitations of Lily Tomlin (Pat as "Edith Ann" and me as "Ernestine"). I will always hear her voice and laughter. I loved Pat and she was one of my best students.  I can't make the memorial for Pat today.  I'm in a lot of pain and another close friend died night before last.  We, my friend and I,  had been friends since we were teenagers in Hampton.  Just by chance my husband and I moved to Charlotte 59 years ago which is her home.  Ask the girls to call me if they can (704.334.9492).  I'd love to talk with them.  I'll keep you all in my prayers.

Lee, you and Pat are the glue to my far away family. I wish I weren't so far away at a time like this. I will always cherish Pat's love of keeping everyone connected together. Thank you for loving her so much and know you are loved in return. With all my heart.

The world is a bit diminished when people like Pat leave. And it is customary to make statements of condolences to the family at such times.  

But, what I really want to say to you Lee is  I am sure as you remember Pat, your wife, friend and companion with her warmth, her sense of joy in life, her love for and loyalty to family and friends -- and that open welcoming smile that came to her as naturally as breathing -- your own smiles and chuckles will outnumber your tears.  

May life continue to bless you with the abundance that came your way when you married Pat.

Pat has always been a dear cousin, really more like a sister, to me. I can't imagine things without her. She loved my two girls, Edie and Frances, so much. I miss her.

 I knew Pat while we were growing up in the 70's, so many years ago. She was always so full of life, but had the wisdom of an old soul. She was sent here to be a friend and share her love with all that knew her.She was always so kind to my mom, who loved her like a daughter.
