Martha Kathrine “Pennie” Reid Hebble, 96, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2023. Pennie had lived in the Charlotte area since 2015 after moving from Blairsville, Georgia where she lived since 1994. Born in Alabama, the daughter of Alva and Gladys (Thornton) Reid, she moved to Tampa when she was 8 and lived there until 1994, when she and her husband, the late Richard B. Hebble Jr. relocated to Georgia.
Pennie loved her church, her friends, and dancing. She also loved helping in the kitchen at church and preparing meals for those in need -her spaghetti pie was Blairsville famous. She adored her granddaughters and always had a story to tell about them.
Pennie was preceded in death by her husband Richard, her sister Bettie Jo Gibson, and her brother Al Reid. She is survived by her daughter Joreka (Jo) Meewes and her husband Lonny Meewes, her two granddaughters Jordan and Katie, her brother Earl Reid, numerous nieces and nephews, and her special friend Jack Bailey of Blairsville.
A service in Tampa will be held at a later date.
