Martha Beaman Ashley Shiffler

Her husband Alvin Shiffler and children, Linda (Mike) Williams, Bud (Susan) Ashley, Jerry (Tajon) Ashley, Laurie (Mike) Barnett, Linda Day, Ed (Laura) Shiffler, plus 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren will miss her deeply. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Perry Ashley, son James Harold Ashley, and daughter-in-law Janet Ashley.

Martha attended Piedmont High School. She worked as secretary at Ashley’s Woodworks for many years.

She was a godly woman who was a long term member of several churches during her life, including Devonshire Baptist Church, where she was known for playing the piano beautifully. As a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, she was a greeter and assisted with the tape ministry. Most recently, she was a member of Bible Baptist Church, where she was treasurer for the Super Saints Sunday School class. In recent years, she frequently wrapped gifts for cancer patients supported by Fighting Cancer, Inc.

Visitation (2pm) and a memorial service (3pm) will be held at Bible Baptist Church in Matthews on Saturday, August 22nd. Graveside services will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.
