Mary Ann Hathcock

CHARLOTTE - Mary Ann Beard Hathcock of Charlotte passed away August 6, 2016. She was born June 12, 1931 to the late James Oliver Beard, Sr. and Mary Eva Young Beard of Mooresville, N.C. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Oliver Beard, Jr.

Mary Ann graduated from Central High School in 1949 and attended Presbyterian Nursing School. She worked as a Pediatric Lab Tech Nurse for 35 years for The Charlotte Youth Clinic and for Dr. Elliott White, Dr. Charles Gay, and Dr. Mary Lou Rutledge. Mary Ann was a charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and a member of Circle 6.

After retirement, she enjoyed babysitting and playing bridge. Mary Ann was a member of The CRS (Can’t Remember Stuff) Breakfast Club here in Charlotte. Mary Ann was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Carolina Panthers and all ACC games. She also enjoyed precious time with family and friends.

She will be greatly missed by her son Robert Aaron, Jr. (Diana Colson), her daughters Linda Gruskin (Sandy), Martha Michaels (Rick Stevens), Beverly Moser, and Carol Futch (Ken).

She was proud of her 6 grandsons George, Hayden, Mitchell, Adam, Brandon, and Taylor and great-grandson Dominic.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. August 9, 2016 in Younts Parlor at Westminster Presbyterian Church located at 101 Colville Rd, Charlotte, NC 28207. A Service of Worship in Celebration of Mary Ann’s life will follow starting at 11 a.m. in Beard Hall.
