Mary was a member of Chapman Memorial Baptist Church and the Ladies Quilting Club. She also volunteered with Vacation Bible School and was the Secretary of Sunday School for many years.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Grover Taylor Kirby; daughters, Martha Jane Jackson and Frances Kirby Dean; and sisters, Estelle (Lingerfelt) of Granite Falls and Hattie Story of Rocky Mount. She is survived by children, Thomas Colen Kirby and wife Terri of Charlotte, Regina Overcash and husband Wayne of Charlotte, and GT Kirby and wife Jackie of Vale; eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; and brother, James Duffy of Calabash.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 1:00pm in the Paul Helton Chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral Home, Reverend Glenn Flowe officiating. Family will receive guests one hour prior to the service at 12:00pm. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
