Mrs. Shields, age 87 of Charlotte passed away Saturday January 10, 2015 at Avante of Charlotte. She was born October 25, 1927 in Stanly County, NC daughter of the late Frank and Maggie Beachum. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Eugene Iles. Mrs. Shields was a former long time member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church now Vine United Methodist, a graduate of Thomasboro High School and retired from Liberty Life Insurance. The family will receive friends starting at 1:00 P. M. Tuesday January 13, 2015 at McEwen Funeral Service Charlotte Chapel 5716 Monroe Road Charlotte, NC with a service to follow at 2:30 P. M. in the funeral home chapel conducted by Reverend Doctor Buddy Pigg. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. Survivors include her husband, William J. Shields, son Ronnie Iles of Rock Hill, SC, two sisters Jean Pigg and Peggy Orr both of Matthews, two grandchildren, Jason and Crystal Iles and four great grandchildren, Charlotte, NC.
