Max Montgomery Howie, Sr (89), passed away June 1, 2017 in Charlotte, NC. He was born in Huntersville on April 20, 1928 to Claude Howie and Ida Irby Howie. Max graduated from Mars Hill College and Carolina Business School.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; son Monty of Dunwoody, GA; granddaughters Nicole Howie of Charleston SC, Melissa Howie of Augusta GA and Hayley Williams of Raleigh NC and grandson Erik Williams of Charlotte. Max was predeceased by his daughter, Janet Williams.
Max proudly served in the US Army in Korea during WWII. He taught Bible and Sunday school for 51 years at Providence Baptist Church. Max was a Sunday school teacher Emeritus and Deacon Emeritus. His hobbies included golf, fishing and gardening.
The funeral service will be held at Providence Baptist Church located at 4921 Randolph Road in Charlotte on Monday, June 5th at 2pm with interment at Sharon Memorial Park. On-line condolences may be left for the family by visiting www.McEwenFS.com.
