

Mrs. Maxine P. Purser went to meet our Lord on Monday, December 26, 2016. She was a member of Briar Creek Baptist Church for over 60 years.Maxine played basketball at Unionville High School with her sisters where they proudly won the Championship. Her mother Lou Viney Little Presley and her father Randolf Ware Presley raised the kids on a farm and taught them to always provide for and love their families. She did with all her heart.Maxine was a member of the Army Corps of Nurses and served with pride at Walter Reed Army Hospital during WWII taking care of the wounded soldiers coming home. In 1948, Maxine went to beauty school on East Boulevard in Charlotte, NC and learned a trade that she enjoyed until she was 85 years old. She was the beautician at the Garden Club serving the same group of women for over 60 years.Maxine always had God in her heart and a prayer for anyone. She loved spending time with the kids. Seven year old great-grandchild Nathan stated he would give back all of the pennies that she gave to him to spend more time with her. She considered all the Mullis children her family and loved to talk about them endlessly.Maxine married the late Walter Purser in 1946. She is preceded in death by her siblings Crowson Presley, Juanita Schaaf, and Lou Nell Mullis. They were all loving, wonderful people. Maxine is survived by her sons Dennis, Donald, and Kenneth (Sandy) Purser, all of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren Tony and Taylor of Charlotte, NC; nephew Greg (Kim) Mullis, Rodney (Rhonda) Mullis; nieces Ann (Mike) Robertson, Roberta (Wayne) Hood, and Myra Womble.Visitation will take place at McEwen Funeral Service on Saturday, December 31, 2016 from 12-2pm. Service will follow at 2pm.
